Okay, for some folks it might be pushing it a bit, because surely by now they can all afford their own canoe, paddle ski, rubber dinghy or rowing boat. But you would be surprised. Maybe that is still a good thing because seeing as though most folks cannot afford these crafts, the lakes and rivers are not chockfull. Well, thank goodness for that and bravo for sustainability. Now, whether you can afford your own craft or not, or whether you are visiting your local waters regularly or not, it is every pilot’s responsibility to behave as resourcefully and sustainably as possible.
Take deep sea fishermen, for instance. A lot of controversy still surrounds this business and it would now seem entirely inappropriate to say that there is something fishy going on out there when the next thing you know; your favorite catch is on the endangered or threatened lists. Fishing, cruising, just carrying cargo, boating is still good business. And so what if you cannot afford your own fishing boat or ocean liner just yet. If you can’t buy it, rent it.
And for you, dying to get back on the waters again, there’s boat rental wa options for you. Start smiling again because soon you will be piloting your dream catamaran again. Just make sure your piloting license is in good order. And make sure that if it’s not you, there’s someone else onboard who has the engineering capabilities needed. Boat owner or ‘just’ renting, it makes no difference, the craft can still get stranded at sea.
No matter how much of an old sea salt you are, being stuck out in the middle of nowhere, well, somewhere out on the ocean, is not always an entirely pleasant experience.
